What we are all about

Our ethos

We aim to provide a friendly community based nursery, which meets your needs and is warm affordable and flexible.

Our staff; are well qualified, experienced and professional. They go the extra mile to ensure each child is treated as an individual.

Through carefully planned activities and structured play children experience fun, wonder and excitement whilst developing as independent learners.

Every child matters

The nursery day is flexible and child centred so that the children have every opportunity to develop as independent learners and for each individual child to extend their learning through play.

We aim to ensure that "Every Child Matters".

Our nursery curriculum planning evolves over the year to reflect the children's development and independence. However, certain aspects of their day remain the same.

Each day begins with registration in their activity room with a shared story and opportunity for "Chat and share news time".

Children are then able to choose their activity based on the weeks topic with an opportunity to discuss what they have done and for reinforcement of the weeks learning objectives.

Home Links

Starting at nursery is obviously a big step in a child's life and the way in which a child responds will vary. Some will feel at home immediately, whereas for others it may take some time until they feel comfortable.

Each child has their own key worker to help this process and we are always happy to give you a quick phone call to reassure you that your child has settled. It is very rare that a child will not settle down after a few minutes.

The partnership between home and nursery is vitally important to us. We actively foster positive relationships in the following ways:

  • Open evenings and parent committee
  • Individual induction
  • Trial sessions and open door policy
  • Newsletters and information
  • Annual family nursery trip
  • Parent consultations
  • Dedicated key worker for each child
  • Parental involvement in nursery

Links to the community

We seek to add depth to the curriculum by inviting visitors to our nursery and by taking the children on external visits whenever possible.

Our nursery has excellent links with the local community. We liaise regularly with support networks for Special Needs children and take advice from Sure Start in order to continually improve our provision.

We have a partnership agreement with the school and our manager is an associate governor. The Head Teacher of the school is on our management committee, this helps to ensure we offer  a cohesive extended schools service.
